The Story of Shaldon
SHALDON – AN AMBASSADOR OF HOPE
Shaldon is one of ten Owston's Civets born at SVW in early 2025. Shaldon's arrival is a special milestone: you belong to the first litter of Owston's Civets recorded with four cubs from a single mother.
Since the mother only has four teats and not enough milk, raising all four cubs became a major challenge. Shaldon was the weakest and gradually became exhausted from being unable to compete for milk. To protect you, the experts decided to separate Shaldon for hand-rearing. The team took turns on 24/7 duty, bottle-feeding you every 2-3 hours to save your life.
The name Shaldon was chosen in honor of the Shaldon Wildlife Trust to recognize their partnership and invaluable support for SVW. You are now healthy and ready for an important mission: participating in the conservation breeding program. Shaldon represents one of our hopes for returning the Owston's Civet population to the forests of Vietnam by 2028.
